John T. Glen

John Glen is known affectionately and literally as "The Professor". John teaches at York University where he lectures on real property valuation. John’s insatiable desire to act and “get started” is second only to his natural tendency to learn. Ironically, it is through John’s actions that the large majority of his learning occurs where action and thought go hand in hand.

John is a magnet for facts and figures and is best known for his inquisitive nature, which he combines with a strategic sense that allows him to effectively sift through the data and develop an appropriate plan or path to reach the desired outcome.

John has extensive experience as an expert witness across Canada and has supported litigation matters on a host of significant and complex properties resulting in substantial savings. The level of detail and extent to which John dives in on appeal support is truly amazing and results in reports and opinions that are un-matched.

Richard Lo

Richard Lo is the consummate student. Throughout his long career with AEC, Richard has been exposed to hundreds of unique and challenging properties and ensuing valuation assignments that leave others scratching their heads. Richard is at his best when he’s learning and applies a very consistent methodology to his research - a thirst for knowledge, facts and understanding of why things are the way the are define his journey of learning.

Richard is always composed and never becomes unravelled once immersed in the complex layers of the valuation challenges, which he routinely calls home. He is extremely well-respected by his peers and recognized as having a superior ability in utilizing unique processes for data collection, inventory and valuation activities.

Richard is patient, a very good listener and a textbook role model for our younger talent that are apprenticing in the “craft” of Costing valuation.

Joe Tsoi

Joe strives to seek consensus and agreement on valuation matters. His specific expertise lies in an in-depth knowledge and understanding of mass appraisal costing techniques and in particular when relating to large-scale industrial properties. The sense of harmony that Joe seeks in his dealings with others is supported by a very strong sense of discipline that guides his day-to-day actions.

Joe is seen by others as being consistent and methodical in breaking down large, complex assignments into smaller, manageable components that can be measured, managed and subsequently completed on time and within scope. Joe maintains a very manageable system for the information overload that can overwhelm so many in today’s world. His ability to pinpoint and isolate detailed facts, figures and/or issues within large-scale projects provides a sense of order when others around him may be distracted from the task at hand. Joe is a very reliable and consistent member of our valuation team and represents a healthy balance in a work environment where much of what we do for our clients can be construed as extremely adversarial.

Don Davies

A strategic thinker who regularly introduces new ideas to his work, Don has added his ideas and effective writing skills to the majority of  litigation assignments that AEC has worked on over the years.

Don’s primary role at AEC is to gather and translate the thoughts of others and communicate them in writing, in a manner that makes the complicated simple. The process of gathering the thoughts of others and coordinating them with the required research is done in a strategic manner that supports the underlying objective of each assignment. Thinking and pondering new and creative ideas in pursuit of the ideal appeal strategy define Don and his work.

Joanna Buchowiecki

Joanna has a very strong capacity for recognizing, understanding and appreciating the feelings of others. This unique trait creates an ability for her to successfully manage situations that would otherwise end in stalemate for others that do not posses this same strength. This ability is witnessed and applied in dealing with her peers, clients and assessment officials with whom she interacts. It enables her to get stuff done in a manner and timeframe that is elusive to others who get hung up on conflict and/or who not able to reason and be rationale when faced with differing positions.

Joanna’s radar in sensing the emotions of others is second nature and is supported by her inclination to be a thinker and often focus on understanding how the other person is feeling. In our often adversarial environment, the ability to listen and understand the risks and dangers being felt by the other side are critical in completing our work in a timely manner. Joanna is continually recognized by her peers and clients as someone that instinctively using these traits to get things done and has built a very solid reputation for being a go-to resource to get things done.
