Successful candidates will be involved in providing our clients with a wide range of consulting services designed to efficiently and effectively manage assessments and property taxes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the provision of property assessment analysis and litigation
  • Liaise with clients, municipalities and assessing authorities regarding property assessment and/or tax issues
  • Co-ordinate appeals and other compliance processes
  • Provide client management support

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree and/or recognized assessment and/or real estate accreditation (applicants working towards these achievements will be considered)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, be proactive and flexible and meet deadlines
  • Valid drivers license and vehicle
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge of property tax/assessment and property valuation is a requirement
  • Experience in assessment and taxation policies & procedures or real estate valuation will be considered strong assets.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in related fields required

Appraiser
Vancouver, B.C.

AEC is currently looking for a self-motivated consultant to join their national team of valuation, property assessment and taxation experts. This position will be based in AEC’s Vancouver office. As an accredited appraiser (AACI or RI) and senior consultant, you will provide high quality analysis, advice and recommendations to AEC’s clients, client managers and regional managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of appraisal and valuation services to various clients.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Liaise with clients, municipalities and assessing authorities regarding property assessment and /or tax issues.
  • Actively participate in negotiations and litigation related to AEC’s Property Assessment and Advisory Services.
  • Provide and prepare valuation advice on wide range of commercial and industrial properties utilizing cost, direct sales and income approaches to value.
  • Prepare valuation reports.
  • Act as expert witness before boards, panels and tribunals.
  • Conduct market research.
  • Define, set up and manage valuation projects.
  • Prepare memos and reports for both managers and clients.
  • Assist in business development functions.
  • Provide training and mentoring for junior staff.

Qualifications:

  • University degree (business or real property related) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Appraisal designation.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to delegate to support staff and work in a national multi-office team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, be proactive, innovative, be flexible and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage valuation projects to successful completion.
  • Good analytical and reporting writing skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Property tax/assessment experience and knowledge of property assessment and taxation policies and procedures.
  • Experience in providing expert testimony is preferred.

Sous l'autorité du gestionnaire responsable de l'équipe technique, le poste de technicien consistera à assister les évaluateurs agréés dans l'obtention de tous les renseignements d'ordre technique dans des dossiers d'évaluation immobilière et de consultation.

Le technicien sera responsable, entre autres, de l'inspection des propriétés, de la cueillette de données techniques et municipales. Il devra, aussi, voir à la préparation des dossiers techniques menant à l'application de la méthode du coût.

Le candidat devra détenir un diplôme de niveau collégial (DEC) en évaluation foncière et immobilière ou son équivalent.

Le candidat devra avoir une expérience d'au moins une année dans le domaine de l'évaluation de propriétés industrielles, institutionnelles et commerciales.

Le candidat recherché doit être habile avec les produits de Microsoft que sont Word et Excel. Il doit, de plus, être capable de travailler avec divers manuels de coût dont le celui du Ministère des affaires municipales, Marshall & Swift, Boeckh et Means Cost Data.

La maîtrise des deux langues officielles (français et anglais) sera considéré comme un atout.

Sous l'autorité du gestionnaire responsable, le poste d'évaluateur immobilier consistera à préparer et produire, avec l'assistance de techniciens différents types de rapports en évaluation immobilière, en consultation et gestion de taxes municipales et locales selon les agendas et budgets mis à sa disposition.

Le candidat devra détenir un diplôme de niveau universitaire (Baccalauréat) ou par cumul de certificats universitaires, en évaluation foncière et immobilière ou son équivalent.

Le candidat devra être membre de l'Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec (OÉAQ) en tant que stagiaire ou encore à titre de membre en règle de l'OÉAQ

Le candidat devra avoir une expérience d'au moins trois années dans le domaine de l'évaluation de propriétés industrielles, institutionnelles et commerciales.
