AEC Property Tax Solutions is a national property tax advisory firm providing assessment and tax management services as well as implementing tax minimization strategies for owners and occupiers of commercial, industrial and multi-residential real property. We are currently seeking an Administrative Assistant based in Calgary, Alberta.

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • maintain up-to-date billing system, follow up, collection and allocation of payments
  • carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines
  • monitoring customer account details for non payments, delayed payments and other irregularities, maintain accounts receivable customer files
  • follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc
  • investigate and resolve customer queries
  • process adjustments
  • organizing a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
  • communicating with customers via phone, email, mail or personally preparing correspondence,
  • arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings
  • receive and direct visitors and clients
  • general clerical duties including photocopying, email and mailing
  • maintain electronic filing system
  • retrieve documents from filing system
  • handle requests for information and data
  • resolve administrative problems and inquiries
  • prepare written responses to routine enquiries
  • prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Three to five years of administrative support experience
  • Previous experience in the real estate /realty tax and assessment industry would be considered an asset

  • Ability to follow through and a proven track record of organizing and systematizing dynamic and often complex work environments is crucial to the success of this role

Calgary, Alberta

AEC Property Tax Solutions is a national property tax advisory firm providing assessment and tax management services as well as implementing tax minimization strategies for owners and occupiers of commercial, industrial and multi-residential real property. We are currently seeking a Director based in Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

  • Role will involve application of taxation and valuation expertise relative to the Alberta market
  • Manage clients and projects where AEC has been retained to provide realty assessment consulting services in the context of appeals
  • Client and project management includes seeking client approval for and executing against property/portfolio specific engagements
  • Assuming responsibility for billing projects upon completion and ensuring expectations with client(s) are properly developed and managed through the various consulting assignments
  • Specific appeal management duties will include market research, client meetings and interviews, development and submission of required compliance reporting, timely completion of Statement of Issues to various appeal tribunals, meet and negotiate with various assessment authorities and as required, development and presentation of project specific recommendations and appearance before tribunals in representing clients
  • Support review, analysis and development of recommendations for presentation to Clients regarding tax recovery issues including support of Expert Witness and/or arbitration activities
  • Capacity and desire to interact with clients, report to and/or develop relationships with decision makers at client level
  • Work regularly as part of a team providing services to National clients, support Client Managers with client deliverables
  • Learn by ‘doing’ with existing Client Managers and position to assume co-client responsibilities
  • Actively participate in team environment that includes Client & Portfolio Managers

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree and/or recognized assessment and/or real estate accreditation (applicants working towards these achievements will be considered)
  • Minimum 10 years experience in related field required
  • Detailed familiarity with MRAC, MRAT, the Municipal Government Act and all relevant Legislation and Regulations guiding appeals in Alberta
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, be proactive and flexible and meet deadlines
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge of property tax/assessment and property valuation is a requirement
  • Experience in assessment and taxation policies & procedures

AEC International Inc. is a national property tax advisory firm providing assessment and tax management services as well as implementing tax minimization strategies for owners and occupiers of commercial, industrial and multi-residential real property. We are currently looking for qualified applicants to join their team of experts in our Property Assessment & Advisory Services Group. Successful candidates will be involved in providing our clients with a wide range of consulting services designed to efficiently and effectively manage assessments and property taxes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead or assist in the provision of property assessment analysis and litigation
  • Liaise with clients, municipalities and assessing authorities regarding property assessment and/or tax issues
  • Participate in appeals, negotiations  and other property assessment related compliance processes
  • Assist with client management support

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in related field required
